Mike is an Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Arkansas, and an Arkansas native. Michael clerked with the Hon. Lavenski R. Smith of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and then with the Hon. J. Leon Holmes of the Eastern District of Arkansas. After clerking, Michael joined the Office of the Arkansas Attorney General, where his practice has been primarily in constitutional law, civil rights litigation, and appellate advocacy. Michael has taught Business Law and Ethics at John Brown University and Law and Economics at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. Michael has presented papers at conferences across the nation and published his work in peer reviewed journals, law reviews, books, and other venues. In addition to his law degree, Michael earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Baylor University.
